Even if employees are lower on the executive totem pole, they should be given relevant, meaningful work assignments. Offering a sense of ownership over their projects give your team members pride in their work, which can make them feel more committed to the company overall.

Open communication can go a long way in creating a positive work environment. Employees who feel information is being withheld from them can be less trusting and have lower engagement on the job. Always keep team members in the loop on relevant projects and consider holding open office hours or asking for feedback on a regular basis. 

  1. Healthy Work-Life Balance

A positive work environment is respectful of employees’ diverse needs and promotes a healthy work-life balance. Allowing your team to take advantage of flex time or telecommuting options is a great way to show you care about their family life and value their contribution to your team. If these options don’t work for your company, allow them to take personal phone calls if necessary or offer flexible lunch hours; happy employees produce higher quality work.

  1. Workplace Excitement

No matter the task at hand, you should convey a sense of excitement about it to your team. Did you just land a big new client? Have you found a new organizational system that will save time?
